I am planning a 3/4 day trip to new york in december 2006 can any one tell me any cheap but nice hotels that are close to the main tourist attractions?

Ive stayed at The Americana Inn several times - very basic but clean and safe - well located. Have to share bathrooms but these are very clean and well provided.
Not The Plaza but good if you want to spend money in the shops and not on a hotel room.

I stayed in the Milford Plaza, one block from Times Square when I was there in December 2005. Saw mixed reviews on t'internet, but it was absolutely fine. Room and bathroom nice and clean (and cleaned every day) and the bonus is that you have to show your room keycard to security to get to the lifts so no-one who isn't staying at the hotel can get to the rooms. I would stay there again.

time hotel. not so cheep if you book with travel co. but book on net so much cheeper hun!
