what is a continental breakfast ?
I have my own ideas as to what you should find in a continental breakfast at a hotel. BUT WHAT DO YOU THINK ? WHAT IS THE MINIMUM YOU WOULD ACCEPT ? - cup of tea & piece of toast ?
ARE THERE ANY MINIMUM STANDARDS OR QUANTITIES FOR THIS ?
thanks

A continental breakfast should include all the basic breakfast foods, but if verys depending on the quality of the Hotel or Inn. It should include, eggs, bacon, sausage, boxed cereal, several types of muffins, a few different juices, milk, and of course coffee.
The minimum is coffee, milk, juice, boxed cereal, and a bagel.
Minimum in US - coffee and donut. If the donuts haven't run out.
Minimum elsewhere - bread of some sort, butter, jam, coffee or maybe tea.
Continental generally implies cold (except the coffee - and not always then). If you are offered cooked items it's turning into a breakfast buffet.
There aren't any minimum standards/quantities - it's up to the hotel owner to offer what he wants/thinks his guests will want.
