London City Airport

Quite by chance we had to meet our daugfhter at London City Airport off a flight from Switzerland.

I was amazed (and delighted) at the ease and smoothness of this delightful,central airport. So much more relaxed and pleasant than suffering the chaos and unpleasantness of the other, major London terminals.

I believe there are only European flights from here but would certainly get my tourist euro.

I would be interested to hear how others have found it.

I wonder what it will be like in the summer of 2012?

I have used it in the past (but not for several years now)and it was so relaxing after the hassle of major airports.

I caught an early morning flight there once, which required catching the airport bus from the tube station... the driver drove straight past me, though I was in clear sight and the bus was empty. I only just made my flight by catching the next bus. Hopefully the new DLR connection has resolved this problem; but it doesn't matter how nice an airport is if other transport connections aren't up to it.

As a london taxi driver,it is a absolute pleasure picking up and dropping there,heathrow and gatwick,both nightmare places.

City Airport is great in my opinion, especially as I live on the route of the DLR so could get there in half an hour from my house - the trouble is that flights from there are always really expensive. It would be fantastic if some of the cheap airlines started to fly from there.

Great little airport with lots of flights to and from UK destinations as well as Europe. Plenty of flights [BA and ScotAirways] to Edinburgh and Dundee in particular.
Good DLR, Tube, and bus connections make me wonder why more people don't use it to get to Central London.

Many thanks everybody, interesting to hear your comments most of which seem to be positive. Even so, cost of flights seem to be above average and 2012 could see them inundated!!!
