With regards to memory cards though, I am led to beleive that the x-ray machines for hold luggage will wipe them but the ones for hand luggage will not
lepers the machined used as airports are safe for the normal film most people will have. The only ones that are at risk from damage are ones with an ISO rating of 800 or above. These tend to be used more by professional photographers. Most 35mm film you buy for a standard camera will have an ISO rating of either 100, 200 or 400. It'll say on the side of the box. These are all fine to pass through xrays. What i usually do though is take a small plastic see through bag to put my films in and into my hand luggage. If ever unsure you are free to pass them to security so that they hand check them therefore they dont pass through security.
sorry, the end of that was supposed to say 'so they don't pass through xray machines'. they'll just get handed back to you after you've walked through the bleeper body check thing.
