Pens are no problem, but UK Airports Security restrict you to one syringe in the cabin (if they find them), so make sure you pack the majority in your case. I argued (and won) to take three on board in case one got damaged and if my luggage got lost I would need time to replace them.
Make sure you have a doctors note. Under no circumstances check in any insulin as it will freeze and destroy it.
Yes you can take your insulin on board with you - my husband does it all the time - even flying over here to USA.
We have never been asked to show the insulin and pen and needles after they have been scannned.
Do not under any circumstances put your insulin in your case - it will freeze in the hold
