Why are hatchback cars called 3 -door when they are clearly 2 door? I know they class the boot as a door but why? Thanks

I supppose because they're the size and height of doors - the whole back of a hatchback opens up, so it resembles the back door of a van rather than a regular car boot, which is more like a lid.
Cos it sounds like your getting something more for your money.
