Michel Thomas language courses

Has anyone used either the Michel Thomas (8 cd) French or Italian language course? If so, were they any good and how long did it take you to 'master' the language?

I've got the French and Spanish versions and they are very good. I've only listened to them a few times but I still managed to pick up quite a lot Spanish and improve my French.

He has got a slightly annoying accent which does bug after 8 hours listening with headphones but he has a very good technique and I would recommend them. They are quite pricey but you can find cheap ones on ebay.

Try to get one from your library to try out - they are very popular, tho haven't tried one myself.

Hi guys, thanks for the feed back. I have indeed managed to get both the full French and Italian courses and additional langauge packs from the library - �70 a go, very expensive so much cheaper this way!
