Travel insurance Question

Yesterday my flight was cancelled., along with many others. I therefore fofeited 3 nights in a hotel i had booked abroad. I booked another flight whivh was 3 times as much as my original flight. I also had to pay out for train fares yesterday and sundries.
I have never claimed on insurance before. What can i claim for?

Its not fair as the terrorists have hit every customer in the pocket. Imagaine familys going abroad. Would cost them hundreds/thousands in lost hotels/flights etc.

People going on package tours with a tour operator will largely be covered (though still inconvenienced) - the tour operator will have to offer a refund or an alternative booking. Perhaps when one of the few times that booking a holiday DIY doesn't save you money compared to booking a package. I doubt if there will be an outcry.
