Hi everyone, I am thinking of going for a long weekend city break in Europe in November, and was hoping for suggestions of somewhere good to go that has some nice restaurants, and some sightseeing too.

All suggestions welcome!

well, um, start with Paris? See the Eurostar/Telegraph offer for 2-for-1 deals (transport only)
Edinburgh- stunning and great food and drink.
Berlin is great for a few days.

Krakow in Poland is amazing.
Everything is really cheap (accomodation, flights, food, tourist hot-spots, the vodka), the people are really friendly too. You can have a really good 3 course meal, with ample alcohol for about 25, and that is combined for 2 not each.

There is so much amazing architecture and culture in the city, from the gothic cloth hall, castles, dragons caves, the jewish quarter where they filmed Schindlers List (a now really modern/updeat and funky area of the town), churches, markets, the biggest market square in Eurpoe.

Have a look at this for some more details if what I have said tickles your fancy.

Remember to pack a scarf if you do go!!

miss inquiry - poland sounds great - i'll check out that website.
Got to agree with EuanC - Berlin is a great place to visit (just come back from a week long stay) There is plenty of nightlife, its easy to get around, tons of sightseeing to do, some lovely restaurants (esp. Hasir by Hackesher Markt) and the people are really friendly.
Rome is a wonderful city with so much to see and do. Also Venice is spectacular.
Paris, can't beat it, but its not cheap
Cheap out Air Berlin for really cheap flights to Germany... Then check out Christmas markets in the towns they fly to... The markets are fantastic not cheap touristy places but real wonderlands. An experiance not to be missed.
You have had some excellent suggestions hope you have a great time

Dublin is worth a visit.
Dublin is so much fun and lively.
Venice is the most romantic place Ive ever been to. You must go there.
if you want culture, good food and wine - one of the Italian cities are perfect. I went to Rome 2 decembers ago - it was amazing and then we got a train to Florence - in the space of two days!!

Rome is very touristy although November will be ideal...
As an Irish girl, I would say Dublin but you'd have to sell your house to pay for it!!
I would say poland too...Krakow is beautiful, steeped in history and great places to eat and drink. Go before it becomes too well known!!!!
I'd vote for Poland too - Krakow is wonderful - culture, history, sightseeing, restaurtants, bars and nightlife.

Gdansk is a really great place too - open, welcoming, a good mixture of history - especially the "Roads to Freedom" Solidarity exhibition - culture, near to the sea (Sopot, a lovely seaside town, is a 25 minute train ride away), restaurants - especially fish ones - nightlife, bars and Goldwasser, the local tipple.

All that plus heart warming, breath taking, wonderful strong vodka - you can't go wrong!
without a doubt go to Venice. bit expensive, but eat at restaurants off the main area and enjoy the car free envoironment.
happy i stumbled on this post, i have the same predicament, why do so many people like poland btw?
im torn between dublin, venice and ibiza for late september please advice me...
Prague is supposed to be nice - and the beers cheap !!
