I'll mention just one so as not to overwhelm you... A little known but fascinating way to spend an hour or so is to visit LaGuardia Airport and go to the far west end. Delta Airlines has a terminal there but the terminal is known as the Marine Air Terminal. It was the terminal building that originally served the huge Clipper Flying Boats flown by Pan American Airlines in the 1930's. The terminal has been restored and a controversial (for the times) mural painted entirely around the interior of the terminal (it's a round building) has been restored. The original Art Deco stainless steel chairs and tables in an adjoining cafe have been located and brought back. The cafe is operated by a loud and entirely New York Greek family... Food is great served cafeteria style. On the outside on the "surround" are restored Art Deco stainless steel dolphins and on the building just next door is a large styilized eagle, also in stainless. All original. If one walks around to the back of the terminal (on the side near the Eagle building) one can still see railroad tracks leading in to Bowery Bay which were used to tow the enormous (for the time) Clipper aircraft out of the water for maintenance. Photographs of Fiarello LaGuardia, who was mayor at the time, and all the luminaries opening the Terminal in early 1930's are in the cafe... Obviously, it greatly impressed me and doesn't take a lot of time...Welcome to the U.S., by the way....

Grand Central Station - a fantastic building, and it has shops and restaurants/cafes aswell.
The thing I remember most about visiting Chicago was a trip to the top of the Sears Tower amazing!
New York - Meat packers area great at night a bar called the Apartment - also Hudson hotel great roof top bar (yes there is a theme!) also restaurant is good - There is Hotel at Meatpackers cant recall name but it has a bar on roof so you can see across New York fantastic

If you do the helicopter trip in New York bring passport they treat it like an airport we didnt know and had to go back to hotel security was very tight as you would expect worth doing though

strawberry fields in central park, named after the famous Beatle track
In NY - the Native American Museum down by The Battery (if it's still there.......wouldn't surprise me if GW's cronies have pulled the funding.......)
Chicago- Shedd Aquarium, absolute must see.
If you're into museums, the Field Museum is good fun.
