where are the best beaches in italy

we went to rosalina mare on the adriatic coast it was lovely you can swim in the sea there's beach bars and pedalo boats with slides on to slide into sea truly amazing

The only problem is that most of the beaches belong to hotels etc, and you have to pay to use them.

lots and lots of nice beaches in Calabria.. extremely hot too. I also like La Spezia/ le Ricci in the north too, there are really nice lagoons to swim around there,

we have been three times to lido de jeselo and its fab.
our hotels have had thier own section of beach, all were free, and its easy to make friends.
a bus ride and then by ferry for around a fiver and your in venice. this journey is a great trip in itself.
the flight is under two hours and the weather is fab.
there are super trips to the dolomites etc. but dont go until from june as its a lovely laid back town fully pedestrianised and if you shop around not expensive.enjoy

Some of the best beaches are in Le Marche, which has 180 kilometres of Adriatic coastline and some inviting resorts. There are eleven towns with blue flag beaches - among the largest number of any province in Italy. Some of the nicest I have visited are Numana, at the southern end of Monte Conero, and Porto San Giorgio and Grottamare further south. All resorts have a stretch of free public beach (spiaggia libera) but it's worth trying the pay sections which aren't that expensive, have all the facilities and provide the best opportunity to see Italians up close.
