Hi ABers,
I'm off to Vegas at the end of Feb, now I'll take my Credit Cards for purchases and some Dollars for tips etc once we arrive. But for cash once we're there I don't want to use my Debit card as I'll get charged but was looking in to Travellers Cheques Cards (or similar) has anyone used them? I know they have fee for ATMs (but is less then my banks charge) but sound handy. Or will Travellers Cheques be a better option?

Travellers Cheques are the best to use. We've used for years and they're accepted worldwide, even in the UK. Keep in mind that you will be given change in US Dollars and it might help if you get some $200.00 before you get here. Hope this helps. If you get the chance take in the Hoover Dam.
Your debit card in an ATM, despite the charges, is likely to be as cheap as anything else.

The travellers cheque cards will have an additional charge over and above that for using an ATM buried in the exchange rate that will match or exceed your debit card charges.

Do use a bank ATM rather than the convenience store type to avoid charges at the US end.
Travellers cheques have the advantage that if they are lost or stolen you can get them replaced (almost immediately if they are American Express), just remember to keep the list of numbers of the cheques seperate from the actual cheques. No such luck if you lose your debit card or it is stolen.

Thanks for the replies guys, Travellers Cheques it is!
American Express travellers cheques, replaced within 24 hrs if lost or stolen and in Vegas as most places, you hand over a traveller's cheque and they give you the change in dollars, no fuss just used as money is, same at any casino, just hand over your t/c at the cashier's win dow and they give you cash, dont have to go to a bank ot to hotel reception evryone takes them, you will be asked for photo ID though, UK driving licence with photo accepted.
Any chance you could bring me back a free Whats On magazine [ available everywhere] and I will pay the postage from you to me please ? I am going in April and like to plan ahead and this tells you everything that is happening there.
I only take $50 dollars with me to get from the airport to the hotel, the "trolley type" bus from the airport only cost about $12 dollars and that includes your return trip back from your hotel to airport too.
Enjoy, if you havent been before its like Disney for grown ups.
open a nationwide account. they don't charge for overseas withdrawals and give great rate of exchange!
