anyone been to majorca? alcudia? what do you think of the place?

Its more or less a typical, touristy resort with the usual bars, souvenir shops, restaurants etc.

Puerto Pollenca is a much nicer resort and only a couple of miles from alcudia

I've been to majorca a few times and i found it very family friendly - if you are taking kids then thats the place. Majorca is a wonderful island if you stay clear of the obvious tourist hot-spots. Hire a car and go up to the north coast and inland to typical Mallorcan towns e.g. Inca

As far as Majorcan resorts go Alcudia is far better than alot of the southern areas. However having been there about 13 years ago i was shocked by what i saw last year! Blimey they have built big time, lots of fast food joints, neon signs, and not really pretty as i remember it. Having said that the 'Muro' area is still quiet and you will find large hotels/apartments will all the facilities a family will need and as this area is classed a natural beauty, they have minimal building. The old town end is meant to be better, with more of a old culture/feel to it. But really Puerto Pollensa is the Best. Please look at www.puertopollensa.com - they too have a great web forum and they also have a section regarding Alcudia. The members of PP.com are v.friendly and if you spend some time trawling old posts this will help you i'm sure. X

I argree with the answer further up - Puerto Pollensa is a much nicer resort than Alcudia, I have been going these for years and really love the place.

I guess it depends on what you like, if you like a quiet and relaxing holiday go to Puerto Pollensa http://puertopollensa.org.uk/ or if you are looking to go wild, go to Alcudia
