What is a good item for �15 - �20 to buy a 25yo male who is going off travelling around the world?

a St Christopher is the ultimate token i guess, other than that how about a nice hard back journal (Ottakers do some great ones) just perfect for jotting notes of the world tour.

A quality magna light tourch. V handy.

...Lonely Planets....journal...mosquito net (not the first thing to spring to mind, but very practical)....personalised CD's, photos...how about paying for an activity in one of his ports of call - that way, he will think of you when he's doing it...??

You can get solar powered chargers which I think can be used to charge Ipods and mobile phones. Could be very handy if he's somewhere remote without access to electricity!

A Sigg aluminium water bottle, available from most outdoor shops. They are inexpensive GBP8-15, and pretty much indestructable. I have had a couple now for... well the oldest, maybe 12-15 years,

They come in various sizes, I have (IIRC) 0.6L and 1.0L sizes. The small one gets taken out several times a week, even if I am just going off for a walk around my home town/area. The larger one is more reserved for off the beaten track holidays...

I cannot think of a product that pound for pound has given me better value for money!
