You will be able to put your hair straightners in your hand luggage, but as you can see from the following hand luggage restrictions you will have to take them out of your hand luggage to go through the x-ray machine. You are only allowed ONE piece of hand luggage, so what I do is take a bag (no bigger than on the following regulations) and leave room for my hand bag to fit it in when I go through security. If you are only using a hand bag it will have to be a biggish one to fit your hair straightners in it!

I would think twice about packing shampoos and so on in your suitcase - apart from the weight it would be inconvenient if they leaked or burst. It does happen.
Once you get through security you can buy whatever you like in the Boots outlet. Whether it fits in your hand luggage or not.
I have an empty folding tote bag inside my hand luggage ideal for these purchases.

I am not meaning to cause doubt but I saw someone just 2 weeks ago getting told to put their hairdryer into their suitcase at Gatwick airport because it was electrical equipment??
I do always pack shampoos etc in suitcase but do put them in little bags - have leaked before but only because lid popped open as oppose to bursting. Good idea to seal lid.
Sorry re straightners - perhaps check with your airline, mine were certainly in my suitcae.
