Hi Norman can you please help me as i would value your opinion, i have 2 good friends who live in the u.s.a. , last year they invited me and my partner over for 2 weeks.
My partner has 3 driving offences, he was arrested and fined but he has never been to prison, he applied for a visa from the u.s.a. embassy in london and they refused him.
They said he could not show sufficient evidence of strong ties to the U.K., Norman would you think the u.s.a. embassy will have informed the u.s. immigration at the air ports in the u.s.a. of their refusal .

Hi, first of all,why did he apply for a visa in the first place,driving convictions would never stop you getting in the US. This is a real hard one to answer,it seems your partner does not have enough ties here for them to issue a visa,and they think he might not return home. I would say there is a real chance that people who are refused a visa are put on the computer,so as to stop them from trying to use the visa waiver system,but i cant be sure,i will ask next time i pick up a member of staff from the embassy,im sorry i cant be of more help,but i wouldent want to say go ahead and go and he got turned back.

hi a simple question here on this matter,I dont know a great deal about visa applications, but in the answer you recieved from the embassy there is a question needing to be asked! is your boyfriend born british?if so i would be asking the question how can he not be showing sufficient evidence of strong ties to the uk.if he is foreign and holding a british passport then i suppose they have some rights in saying it. i would however be looking at and asking what they would like to see as showing such evidence.
