I have never been skiing in my life, but a friend went on one a few months ago (Austria or France I think), and there was no snow due to our milder winters.

They spent the week on a walking holiday !

So wherever you do choose make sure there IS going to be snow.

He had already paid for his ski hire and his chair lift hire and did not use either so he was a bit annoyed.
Hi crimples!
I have only been skiing 3 times but the first time I went was last year and we went to Austria as complete beginners and had a fab week. Spent the whole week in ski school and met some great people that ended up being our drinking pals all week. Great apres ski!

Austria is very versatile apparantly in that you can choose from quieter resorts to more lively ones. We stayed in St Johann in Tirrol, which was quite quiet but we went a little bit out of season. Some reasonably good bars though.

Austria is renowned for it's excellent ski schools, the best in Europe so I've heard!

However, if you are looking for a proper full-on party party 10 days of skiing, apres ski and clubbing, I've heard Andorra is the place to go (the Ibiza of the ski world) but! I've heard it is quite downmarket (not that I'm a snob honestly!) - but I think it's good for beginners and no doubt you'll have great fun.

Good website for you is: www.iglu.com

They do some good deals and give you resort reviews and up to date snow reports, it's VITAL you check how the snow's doing BEFORE you book you're skiing holiday (so leave it as late as possible). We ended up going to the States earlier this year because Europe had NO SNOW!!

Have fun on the slopes but BE CAREFUL!!
