Nile cruise

I'm going on a Nile cruise next week and wondered what I should wear for visiting temples, etc. Do I have to cover all of legs and arms or just part? I'm female.

Although saying that, I have been twice now and the temples that i have been to (Luxor, Karnak, Temple of Queen Hatshepsut) have women wandering round in shorts and vest tops without any problem. (same at the Valley of the Kings)

Thanks cheeky, been getting conflicting advice so was in a major dilemma as to what to pack!

We went on a Nile cruise last year and I just wore my usual summer clothes skirt and tee shirt or summer frock and had no problems at all but for visiting mosques(which are usually part of some outings) I took a short sleeved cotton shirt with me and several other ladies took cotton stoles/pashmina type garments which you can buy really lovely ones for about �1 when visiting any historic site! You'll be pressed hard to buy believe me

the temples you'll visit are ancient Egyptian ones, not now in use for religious purposes, so you won't need to wear a burqa. In general covering knees and upper arms is sensible but many female tourists seem not to bother, as CheekyChops says. If you want to visit mosques, you will need to have most flesh covered up - at least knees and elbows, I think, though it's a very long time since I've been in one so my advice may be out of date.
