Thanks Dave

Did your parent retire out there or did they go out to work aswell???

Im looking to move out there next year and was just looking to see if anyone has experienced any difficulties or problems etc...

Thanks in advance...
...my brother went out to work there 7 years ago for 6 months.....and he's still there!, he is on the French Alps quite close to the Swiss border, went out as a chalet slave, ended up running his own business during the winter months and freelances as a chef during the summer months, he loves it, he had limited language skills back then but is now fluent and is a must if you intend to get on with the locals.....go for it, you can always come back if you don't like it...nothing ventured and all that....

Thanks ermintrude.......everyone I speak to seems to have only good things to say about living there...i sure there must be bad points...but it appears that they are few and far between..!!! thanks for your comments I appreciate it..
I lived in France for a few years and didn't come across any bad points. Sadly the job ended and I had to return to the UK. Obviously you will find annoying and even obnoxious French people just as you do in any other country but the whole attitude to life is so much better than here in the UK.
My parents retired out there and they are coming back soon, only because they are near 70 and if it gets to the point where they cant drive they will be stuck as they are in the middle of nowhere, the nearest town Chef Boutonne is 10-20 mins by car and there are no buses so they would be stuck for visiting us in England and getting to the shops, but as i said in the 15 years they were there they had no bad points, they were even involved in the local community organising events and things.
but the important thing is integrate with the locals.
