Went two years ago a beautiful place with plenty of history, reasonable priced, people very polite and friendly, will definately return, for your info we went to Makarska, took a couple of day trips also very good value, it seems that the Croatians believe and understand that tourism is the way forward for them and they are putting everything into this to make people enjoy their stay there, make sure you take your camera as the views/scenery are really out of this world.
was there in August and my only regret is I did not have more time there. Our main base was in Dubrovnik(Villa Adriatica) but we also spent 2 days on island of Hvar then also did a coach trips (through Atlas Travel) - one to Bosnia and Herzegovina taking in other places en route and another to Montenegro. It was a lovely place - hard to believe so recently been at war(although plenty of damage to be seen). People are not overly friendly but that is a good thing if you know what I mean - they are not totally fussing over you which is how I prefer it. The people did seem a wee bit subdued. Our flights, accom and trips were extremely well priced. When it came to eating out etc over there I would compare it to the UK. Worth a visit.
