I'm flying to the US in a few weeks and am wondering about wearing flights socks during the journey. I travel long haul 1-2 times per yer (return). Last year when I returned from Malaysia I suffered very badly from swollen feet and ankles. My feet swelled to the point were shoes were impossible to get on and the swelling lasted a couple of days and seemed to fluctuate once I was home, and got worse once I was on land. The swelling was worst on my feet, but at points there was no definition to my ankles. I am 29, so not old (or pregnant). Has anyone else suffered this? Is it worth me using the socks or do you think a visit to the docs is worthwhile? Thanks for your advise, LuBlu
I usually wear them, especially on long haul. A four hour flight is enough to make my ankles swell so flight socks are a must (im not that old either lol. 36) I definitely think its worth buying some
I had the same problem with swollen feet for a few days at the end of long haul flights (often about 19 hours), once to the extent that I had to buy a pair of large trainers (elegant they weren't). I started wearing flight socks and have never had a problem since. Just make sure that you put them on smoothly - no bumps - they feel a bit tight at first, but persevere. You can buy Scholl or from Boots (I prefer Boots).
Good luck with the next flight.
ive suffered for some years with same symptons 2 years ago i started wearing flight socks make sure you put on before you set of at home . they do work. while on holaday i sleep with pillows under my feet so they are elevated it keeps the swelling down . dont drink to much alcahol on flight plenty of water. do the exercises as well with your legs and feet.
