I think there is a restriction on how much money you can take in ?
also what is the best currency to take US dollars or sterling, presuming T/Cs are a pain to cash there.
ATMs are they all over the country or just in Cairo ?
its over 20 yrs since I went there and things will have changed obviously.

Dont think there is a limit on how much you can bring in. Most places in egypt take us dollar, euro or sterling. Most towns have bank atms. For some reason alot of hotels wont accept traveller cheques. I found they prefer Sterlling cause of their exchange rate is better. Found recently that alot of things have been marked up in Euros. Dont forget every loo you visit they want 1 egyptian pound to enter (so make sure you have some with you) & dont forget toilet roll
