Sharm el Sheikh
I am going to Sharm el Sheikh in a couple of weeks. I am going to take some Egyptian pounds, don't know how much. Is it expensive out there. What about travellers cheques, do you get a good exchange rate with these.

You need small stuff for tipping. It's quite easy to take out money using your credit card and an ATM out there.
A lot of the money out there is very ragged and dirty -has been suspected as a medium thru which tummy bugs are transferred. You will see what i mean when you get hold of some egyptian pounds (which they call 'ginee')

I went to sharm in september and generally they like euro's and us dollarsl more thaln egyptian. i avoid TC'as as they usuallym charge commission. Small local restaurants and cafes are ok with egyptian, stores and markets quoted euro or US. depends how much is included n yor stay, how much you will be eating and buying. I recall taking about 70 worth of euros and about the same in egyptian. That was for 2 weeks in an all inclusive for 2 of us. And i had some left over t the end. If you are accomm only, you'll need more!
Agree with above. At the ATM it is better to take out quite a large amout (80 - 100 stirling) as your bank will charge you about 2 per transaction.
Take a small bottle of Anti-bacterial gel (available from most chemists), and clean you hands before you eat.
The money is easy to cover because 1 egyption pound is about 10p (!0 egyptian is 1).
Hope you are in naarma By. In my experience, that is the best site.
take a snorkel with you. The water (and fishes) are brilliant.
