Hi...we're off to Sharm el Sheikh on 21st July and wondered what the best way to convert our 1000 spending money would be..English s,travellers cheques, egyptian money..we just don't have a clue..can anyone help with any advice please? Also,we've seen a few negtive reports about weighing in luggage when coming home from Sharm and people being charged for excess baggage, when they're clearly not...anyone had this happen to them and if so,what did you do about it? Many Thanks everyone..footymum

We've never had a problem with baggage, and we take diving gear too. Rather than take a lot of cash, your best bet is to use ATMs when you get there. Sharm is well provided with them.
Just a tip - if you intend swimming in the sea, take some shoes that you can wear. The sea bed in Sharm is composed of dead coral and makes for very painful walking. If you like snorkling, it's well worth it. Oh, and take some tissues for use in the toilet at Sharm Airport. The woman on the door of the ladies hands you one small square off a roll of loo paper as you enter!

You're welcome, footymum. Have a great time - and take your snorkel. The sea life is AMAZING! x
