Can anyone recommend any unusual, weird or wacky hotels in LA? Not into the falseness of the Bev Hills and the like, want something a bit off kilter and enjoyable with a bit of personality.

although some way north of LA is one of the wackiest in the US.If you can rent a car it's worth staying at.
To see just HOW wacky the rooms etc are hover the cursor on Accomodations,and then click on Room Features Grid,this lists just what "features" the room has.
If you click on the room name you will get a picture of the room.
It really is well worth the detour,we have stayed there,but I am NOT saying in WHICH room! LOL

The distance Los Angeles to San Luis Obispo (Madonna Inn) is 151 miles,not much on US roads.
