four adults four very young children 3ish.
looking for a family friendly resort that is not too pricey and not heaving but not dead either. adults are novice/medium skilled skiers/boarders, kids possibly try blades or sledging (in or out of a kids ski school).

europe preferred and any board options considered (catered chalet, sc etc etc).

any pointers or recommendations ? cheers chums.

we had a good time at Formigal in Spain this year

skiing for all abilities, bust mostly intermediates, and being Spain, they're very child-friendly.
stayed at this hotel

again, children welcome (and had their own menu)
The only drawback is that the southern latitude makes the snow a bit unpredictable, although the resort is well equipped with cannons.

thanks mushroom, it looks really good.

generally ski holidays are expensive, but would you say the costs for staying at the hotel and skiing there were low/med or high ?
we did it as a package, which turned out to be very reasonable, notwithstanding the poor exchange rate earlier this year - ski hire, lift passes and lessons were no more expensive than in France the previous year.

cool, thanks.
Morzine in France is excellent for what you are looking for. I have been for the last few years and it caters well for kids and has very good ski schools as well as nanny agencies and baby sitting for evenings out. There are lots ok UK companies based out there as well as the local ones.

The skiing is great and the area is huge so you can always find good snow. Also the transfer from Geneva airport is only about 1hr 15 mins which is good with kids.

I stayed with these guys last year in the catered chalet which was excellent.

It is a little out of town but the hosts drive you in and out when you need to go and there is a good ski bus service.
Morzine is very low so you find yourself trekking to Avoriaz if the snow is poor. Also France is generally expensive compared to Austria. Have a look at Saalbach (but don't be tempted by Hinterglemm-now that is dead)
