day out for thurs - near midalnds

I am looking to take mum out for the day on Thursday somewhere no more than an hours drive from Birmingham ...... just to a nice town/city with plenty of shops, nice place for lunch, preferably somewhere quaint (ie not an out of town shopping centre) Any suggestions?

If she can walk well what about a day in Stratford upon Avon.Good sight seeing bus available, plenty of eating places and take a bit of tal bread to feed the swans

Thanks djwepg ...... agree Stratford is lovely .... but been lots of times ... anywhere else you can think of? Have also done Lichfield, Hereford, Tamworth, Derby & Ludlow ....
