Of course, Kent is known as the Garden of England and has always been well-renowned for its hop fields and orchards. Sadly nowadays, these have all but disappeared (except in small pockets) and seem to have been replaced mainly by fields of oilseed rape, cereals and pasture.
As you may know, during the medieval and early modern period, Kent played a major role in several of England's most notable rebellions, including the Peasants' Revolt of 1381, led by Wat Tyler, Jack Cade's Kent rebellion of 1450, and Thomas Wyatt's Rebellion of 1554 against Queen Mary I. Most of these rebellions were against unfair levels of taxation and corruption things dont seemed to have changed much today, though the masses have yet to march on London.
