Our grandchildren are taking us to dublin for the day, should we have travel insurance? We do have an E111 card.

To Dublin from where?
Question Author
sorry. we are flying from manchester.
There is an agreement between the UK and Irish authorities, which means that the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)is not needed by UK residents visiting, working or living in Ireland, and you will be treated on the same basis as a resident of Ireland.

thank you for that, I was a bit worried in case insurance was needed.
As we are only going for day we won't have luggage or a lot of cash with us.
I would take out the travel inurance in case one of you is taken ill and you cannot travel, that way you do not lose the cost of the flights
E111 is obsolete - called a EHIC now.Complete it on line and it is free.
