i am wanting to know what is appropriate clothing to wear in Vietnam? We are visiting temples and i have heard that it is unacceptable to wear shorts and singlets.

i think the most appropriate thing to wear is trousers and a top, maybe u could take a head scarf along with u just in case u need to wear one.

And a good time in Viet-Nam, which is where you are actually going! As suggested, a number of eastern faiths frown on the exposure of skin in their temples, so men and women whould wear long trousers, and long sleeved tops, and carry a hat or scarf in case they are required. make sure your feet are presentable as well - some faiths do not allow shoes in their temples.

The only thing I can add it look what the locals do - covering up is usually required, but there are often additional customs.  For example, women cannot touch Buddhist monks.  In some temples, you cannot turn your back on certain images.  Don't worry, if you show respect, people will help you and will not get angry if you slip up!
