Return flights

Hi, has anyone ever done this and it works out cheaper........................
If you book a flight like to Cyprus one way, pay for it then straight after book another flight to return back home, would that work out cheaper than getting the outbound flight the same time as the return flight, as we are trying to find the cheapest route to Cyprus in Oct. Help please. xxx

With budget operators you'll save nothing at all. With some 'full fare' airlines you could end up paying considerably more. (Several airlines charge more for a single flight than they do for a return booking!).

If you want to find the cheapest way to get to Cyprus in October, please post again, stating:
(i) which UK departure airports are suitable for you ;
(ii) which Cyprus airport is best for you (and whether you'd consider an alternative) ; and
(iii) the exact dates of travel you require (and whether there's any flexibility possible in your travel plans).

Try skyscanner to book your flights and it gives the option for one way and return so you can see which works out best for you.

Skyscanner is often a good starting point but I've frequently managed to find flights far cheaper than those on that site. My offer to find you the cheapest flights still stands!

Thank you so much Buenchico for your help, the reason being i need cheap is that my daughter would like to go there as she has just been diagnosed with a life long disease and we are not sure whether she would be able to fly for much longer. Here are the details.......

Me again Buenchico the times are important too, as she has a little one and would like the flight to be about 7/7.30 am and return mid afternoon ish as she has to vacate the villa by midday. xx

The Gatwick Airport website lists the following airlines flying on that route:

Viking. (No use to you as the only fly on Sunday)

Monarch. (Again no use. Sunday & Wednesday only)

Thomson. (Useless. Wed, Sat & Sun only)

Thomas Cook (Still no help. Tue & Sat only)

BA: The first actual possibility. Fly out at 0910 (arriving at 1540) for £207 per person - but with only 3 tickets left at that price. Fly back at 1725 (arriving at 2010) for £198. Total fare, per person = £405

That only leaves one airline, which seems to be by far the best solution. easyJet fly out at 0725 (arriving at 1355) for £88.99 per person. They fly back at 1440 (arriving at 1720) for £116.99. Total fare, per person = £205.98

The above fares include all taxes and charges but exclude baggage fees. As with all budget fares, they will rise as seats start to fill up, so I suggest that your daughter should book with easyJet a.s.a.p

Chris do you know if having Behcet's will make her travel insurance go up?

Thanks for your reply. I have to admit that I'd never heard of Behcet's disease until I read your post. (I've just been reading about it on the NHS website).

I fear that many of the cheaper insurance companies (who tend to offer only 'bog standard' policies, at fixed rates) might simply decline to accept the business. However it's worth checking to see whether the Post Office will offer cover. (They seem to offer greatly flexibility than some other companies). If not, this specialist broker will be able to help:

Thank you so much Chris you have been so helpful. Yes Behcet's is not very well known in the UK thats why it has taken them 5 years to diagnose her, its a horendous illness to say the least and there is no cure at present as you probally have read. Thank you so much. xxx
