Depends. Some operators use a single type of aircraft per route. Other airlines may use a combination, for example a 777 on the morning flight and a 747 on the afternoon flight. Same for shorthaul. Maybe an A319 for some times of the day and a larger A321 during peak times.
If you know the airline (as you've got the number you should do) and go to their website, there is usually a search box you can put the flight number into and it will come up with details of the flight and aircraft used.
Normally the same plane is used consistently for a particular flight number, but you cannot tell from the flight number alone (sddsddean's post covers that). Sometimes there is a last minute equipement change to a different type of plane. It happened to me recently, and they were re-assigning seat numbers at the gate. The guy in front was insisting he wanted the same seat number, and was told it was not possible. He was geting angrier, and wouldn't believe that seat number was not on this flight. Silly prat ended up being denied boarding.
Enter the flight number into FLIGHTSTATS and the aircraft type will come up.
