My sister got married on the little island just off Looe last year and they had the reception in the Barclay House Hotel, which is where we all stayed.
I would highly recommend it. The owners, who are brothers I think, were great the whole time and the hotel is really lovely with a relaxing atmostphere. I would really say it's worth a weekend stay there. Link below for the site.

The Woolacombe Bay hotel is lovely....great surroundings.......Ilfracombe not too far....hotels vary in price, so keep to your budget as so much choice.

For Cornwall. i would choose St Ives Bay.....love it there.....the hotel we stay at is the Boskerris....a bit pricey but the views are stunning.

Carbis Bay nearby is absolutely lovely :0)... Penzance closeby....you can drive down to the Lizard/Lands End in a short while too.
There are so many lovely places in both counties, difficult to pick one in each.....Newquay lovely but busier etc.
I would look around and decide which area you would like to stay at during this special break and i hope you have a wonderful anniversary, tilly, wherever you decide upon to spend it. xx

The Saunton Sands hotel in North Devon (Brend Hotels) isn`t the most exciting hotel to look at from the outside but it`s ok inside and I have to say you won`t find a better view anywhere if you get a room on the sea side. Croyde`s just around the corner (another fine beach) and a nice pub for drinkies (The Thatch) Exmoor`s about twenty five minutes away as well.
I use this site a lot Tilly. Every place I have booked has been brilliant. Hope it helps.

whats your budget - The Lugger at Portloe...if you have some money.?
My local is really good but it isnt near the coast, just off the A30 - the Plume of Feathers at Mitchell - nice rooms and good food....they have a sister hotel in Newquay but that place sucks.
Whats your age as if you are older, the Nare has a great reputation, same area as the Lugger.
If you want a pub up on the cliff tops and rather 'remote' then the Tinners Arms at Zennor - beautiful barren landscape and only 4 miles from St ives towards Lands End.
Devon - my fav is an inland pub/hotle at South Zeals, the Oxenham Arms, then there is the Rock Inn at Haytor, both good for Dartmoor and environs. The Nobody Inn at Doddiscombeleigh (5 miles from Exeter) used to be incredible as a foodie/wine pub (seriously the wine guide was over 10 inches thick) but its under new ownership and I think has slipped - but wasnt bad, just not as good as before.
