Commuting between Oxford and Reading

Hi!

I live in Oxford and will soon be starting a new job in Reading. Does anyone know how long the commute would take by car, or what the best route would be?

I live on the Oxford end of Iffley Road and would be working at the University.

probably A34, M4 and A33, journey about 1 hour, maybe bit more in traffic.

Which side of reading if it is towards junction 12 side and if you are doing it in rush hour, i would perhaps suggest the following: go down to end of the iffley rd to the ring road and take the road that is down the side of heyford hill sainsbury's. Take this road cross country via wallingford and pangbourne then the a4 to junction 12 m4
or over donnington bridge, turn left, get to the ringroad then a34, M4 to junction 11/10 depending on where in reading

Reading University is not near Junc12, it is about 3 miles north of Junc 11 - just south of the town centre.

hi BM, there are several parts of the university campus. If the poster was going to the bit near the hospital, at rush hour, junction 12 then berkley avaenue might be the best bet

To clarify, I would be working on the main campus, Early gate entrance, (off Whiteknights Road).

then i would use the M4 to junction 11 and head towards earley then turn left where it's signposted. The problem is traffic (of course!)
i used to do the journey in reverse I live in Reading and attended OBU one day a week. I would often find the oxford bit was the worst/longest out of all (hiwever i was hitting oxford about 8:30) It might be an idea for you to try out several routes, and know which way to go if there is a crash on the a34 (as there often seems to be0)
