Was there any truth in the seaweed and fir cones and the old country/farmers ways of telling what weather was in store? I often wonder with the highly sophisticated computers etc.,used these days.

I had an elderly neighbour who was always spot on with the weather simply by observation of the sky, wind, nature etc.
A fir cone will indicate the weather as it is, not what's to come. They open when it's fine and close when it's wet.
My old Grandma always swore she know what was predicted by "the bones in me leg!"
The seaweed one was nonsense. If the seaweed is wet, that means it is raining?! You don't say...
.. or the tide's just come in...
