Water Samples

How long can you keep a water sample for before handing to a doc? I was sure it had to be done of a morning and handed in within a few hours – but I’ve been told they can be done & kept for longer?
I have to hand in a sample when I get a recurring water infection back, but sometimes I only have it for a few hours, and the docs is never open when I do get it, so it’s proving quite difficult!

pop it in the fridge for up to a day
