new boiler
have just last week had a new condensing boiler fitted by gas board,532i,the problem we have is that the smell from the boiler comes in the house upstairs.we have complained and they have lowered the extension pipe for the flue.we can still smell it and were told that the pipe is fitted within regulations and it is only steam coming out with a few particles ,my husband was in the bath and the heating was on and a smell coming thru window immediately he felt very dizzy and felt sick we have told the gas board but they do not think ther is a problemas it is fitted within regulation.the problem is come winter time when the boiler is on nearly constantly we have gas board visiting this afternoon for other problems ,we will mwntion the problem again we spent 4000 pounds surely this cannot be right,does anyone else have the sme problem

As for the Gas Board ... If the detector sounds - it is their problem. Turn the boiler straight of and tell them that it is not fit for purpose.

As above, to test for colourless odourless and poisonous carbon monoxide.
Other products of combustion are colourless and odourless carbon dioxide and water vapour, plus traces of sulphur oxides. It is perfectly possible that the dizziness could come from an excess of carbon DIOXIDE in the air around the outside of the bathroom window, being drawn into the room because of the extractor fan. This is not poisonous, but is no good for breathing either. Have you tried sealing the window up to see if this changes things?
