I once said to a guy in a pub who had spoken to me 'I'm sorry I don't speak Welsh, could you speak English'...his curt reply was 'I am speaking bluddy English'.
Thoroughly nice generous people, can be a bit shy out in the country but very hospitable. I 've been fed and taken rabbit shooting and survived.
