My front lawn is shared with next doors do i just mow my own half?

Just depends on how friendly your neighbours are,and whether they are happy to share the care of the two lawns.We share and have lovely neighbours who are out to work, whilst we are retired, and my Husband is happy to do the mowing but our young neighbour did the necessary lawn dressings when needed this year.On the other hand we have people on our estate who strictly do their own and some have even made sure that the division between both lawns is clearly defined.So it depends on how you are placed .

Personally I think there is nothing more hideous than a shared lawn with only one side mown. This is my feeling to the point where every time I mowed my lawn I would do their half aswell. Hopefully you may shame them in to taking turns.

thats all very well simeon but they may well then come to expect you to do it all the time i would just do your side

We have a shared grass verge with our next door neighbour and have cut both sides since he moved in about 12 years ago, mainly because he has an electric mower whose cable won't reach over his front fence. It would be nice if he occasionally said "thank you" but as he works long hours and has little free time, we'd rather keep the front of our property looking decent than worry about "who should be doing what".

i used to share a front lawn with my 'lovely' neighbours who used to cut all the grass as the chap was on 'disabillity' and had more time,however we fell out and he just did his half to prove a point!

Why not just have a friendly chat with your neighbours to see what they would prefer; that is, to mow the whole front lawn alternately, or would they just wish to cut their own half.

See what they say, then just go along with it.

That way you've not upset them, and you should all be able to live happily for ever and ever, or at least as long as you live there!

Why not erect a small fence dividing the two, then it won't look odd if you only mow your own side. It doesn't need to be very tall and merely marks the boundary.
