To Dyson Or Not To Dyson?
33 Answers
I'm losing patience with my current useless and heavy vacuum cleaner. I know Dysons are quite expensive, has anyone regretted buying one?
BTW, I call Mrs Spod 'Nature' because she abhors a vacuum; not very keen on dusters either. (Not true).
Thanks,
CS

It does very well at sucking up the finer dust particles but I cannot get it to remove hairs or bigger bits of 'dust' from my carpets. I have been thinking for some time about buying a new brush/head attachment because the one it came with is obviously not very good. It is noisy. It can be a bit messy when emptying the dust container if you are not careful, sometimes more so than with the old-style dust bags. My old cleaner was on the whole much better. Unfortunately some dust got into the motor I think the last time I used that (when I removed the full dust bag) so it needs repairing but when I asked one particular workman he claimed it would cost more than it was worth. Any thoughts/ideas on that? Overall on the subject of Dyson cleaners I think many of us have fallen for the hype and been disappointed.
wordyone that's the exact problem I had, a piece of cotton for example on the carpet it would just not pick up even though the suction was good. I too thought the head was faulty and contacted Dyson, to their credit they sent me a new one no questions asked - and it still wouldn't pick up threads and hair from the carpet. That's why I got rid of it.
I have a 20 year old Dyson DC01 and it's still going strong. I also have 2 Vax and not sokeen on them. Hate the Henry's. They're like a badly behaved dog being dragged around on a dodgy leash. Electrolux is krap too. I have a small hand held Duronik which was a cheapie from Amazon 2 years ago. Very good for stairs. Good luck with whatever you choose. xx
