Problems With Brand New Car

My Son bought brand new car from TrustFord main dealer. He picked it up in the dark & checked it over best he could. Next morning in the sunlight he noticed a crack in the windscreen. Went straight back and for a couple of days they argued amongst themselves who should pay for it (Fords or dealership)

Eventually it was agreed, so asked son to take it another branch of the dealership as the small one he bought it from doesn't have a service/repair centre. Son did this 3 weeks ago and they still have it.

Every excuse under the sun has been given as to why it has not been done yet uncluding they can't get a windscreen for that car as its too new!

Consequently, son has driven the car for 3 days, dealership has had it for 3 weeks. He is, understandably, tearing his hair out, they cannot tell him when it will be done.

He is totally fed up now and the shine of getting a new car has long worn off.

What are his options? Can he demand his money back or a replacement car?

Any help appreciated.

Funnily enough a friend of mine had a similar experience... she was advised to approach the company using Twitter .. her problem was solved the next day. Big companies don't like bad press and like to be seen giving great customer service.
I agree ubasses
I would email the ceo

he needs a diary of events and to keep his email to the equiv of one side of A4 and make it clear what he wants - a car that will go for example

Thanks again guys, he is emailing the CEO tonight, fingers crossed.
Best of luck, silliemillie.
never buy a new car, end of.
I thought you were a capitalist, Tora^3?

TGL r.p.m. : 300+

yes that is why I would never buy a new car.
So how's the garage supposed to make a profit, if you don't buy from new?

Maybe Tora would like my sons family to,drive around in a 5 year old car with no way of knowing if it's someone else's trouble or what dodgy bodged repairs it was done to it.

Hypo is right, if no one bought new there would be no second hand.
I have a 12 year old car, the new one isn't turning out too well is it?
Got your gear box problem fixed yet, TTT ?.
that's an even older car tony, I also have a 1990 Nissan 300zx goes well. The wife has a Mercedes. I can afford it but I'd never buy a new car, raving mad, you lose a fortune in the first 5 minutes and as we can see, new is no guarantee that it's any good. Some cars are heap of junk when they are new. My daily driver is a 90k car, I paid £8k probably half what a new Ford focus costs, the focus is usually a good car but I'd rather have mine all day long.
I know where your coming from, TTT. But each to their own.
