I am upgrading to a newer desktop can u tell me do I just login to my e-mail account when set up has completed or do I need to set it up first time of

How do you (or will you) access your email?

Some people use a 'proper' email client, such as Outlook Express, Thunderbird, Windows Live Mail or similar. (That's the way that email was originally designed to be used. It's still the way that email is accessed in most workplaces and quite a few home users still prefer that method). If you use an email client you'll need to configure it with the server details to get into your email account.

However many home users now use web-based services, where they simply go to a web page via their browser (such as Internet Explorer, Edge, Firefox or Chrome) and log in from there. If you use that method to get into your email, you wont need to do anything new; you'll just be able to carry on doing what you've always done.

Don't get rid of your old desktop till you know everything is working on your new desktop.

There may be some settings or files on the old desktop that you will want on the new desktop.

What are you moving from and to?

Is it a Windows PC and you are moving from Vista or W7 to Windows 10 for example?

Or is it a Apple Mac?

I access my emails on my desktop PC, my Samsung Tablet, an iphone, and small laptop, in addition to other shared computers, at work and belonging to friends and relatives.

But I access all of these in exactly the same way, through BT Yahoo, and this is where my password is located.

thanks for the replies very grateful,i have at present a desktop with I/e ,I downloaded windows 10 from windows 7 hate it,as I am ready for a new pc I didn't bother taking 10 out and reverting.The e-mail I have is ntl world and I sign in with my e-mail address ,the answer given from BUENCHICO makes me believe I just carry on as normal in the new desktop,it runs windows 8.1 cannot be any worse than windows 10.
