Were I in charge of the Xmas meal it would be traditional. That said not necessarily turkey, which is a relatively recent tradition; there are other birds out there. I hear the goose is getting fat. But the reality is that no one is coming to my place for Xmas; too far to travel, so I visit others, and they always have the bad taste to get a crown so that all the tasty bits have already been stolen for selling off separately. As someone who likes to cook and never really gets the opportunity, it's rather strange really. Been years since I cooked an Xmas lunch. At this rate I may never have the opportunity again. For sure I'm not refusing to visit family during the season and bothering to cook for one instead.
