Do I need to replace my wooden mantelpiece? I think it's far enough away given its diameter of flue x 3 but seen no wooden ones on sites. Any one have good installers local to Mid Kent?

The 3 x diameter rule usually applies to flue pipe, Lacuna. You have an open fire, so I guess there'll be no exposed pipe. It does depend on the make and model. Select one first, then their installation guide will tell you everything you need to know.

Also, to comply with Building Regs, you'll need a HETAS installer.
