Up to now I have been happy with a compact smartphoine and my laptop at home. I now find myself checking e-mails and news websites when out. I am torn between buying a tablet (with a dongle) and keeping my compact smartphone or buying a larger smartphone. Can I have some opinions from fellow sanswerbankers please?

I use a slightly larger-size samsung smartphone and find it fine for checking emails. However occasionally I find the on screen keyboard obscures much of the screen. I've noticed how sites such as ebay have geared themselves up to work perfectly on this size of device. Fits neatly in coat pocket, so I'm happy. I use a pay as you go tariff.

It's a personal choice. Where are you likely to use it ?

If at home why put up with a smaller screen if you can have a 10" tablet one to look at ? On the other hand if you must access the Net outside of home then maybe a larger mobile is more convenient than carting around a tablet.
You don't need to buy a tablet with a dongle. My Lenovo tablet has a slot for a SIM. The SIM was supplied free (for obvious reasons) by my carrier, as part of my phone contract.
