I use a USB memory flash-drive to store & play music files on a downstairs hifi.
Any ABrs tried storing these music files as folders with individual artistes OR as numerous single files? Perhaps folder type storage would make for easier navigation should you want to 'skip' an artiste you may not want to hear at a particular moment?
All experiences/suggestions welcome.....and as usual I'm thanking you in advance.....
All I do is create a folder for every playlist or album I want but to get the songs to play in the order that you want, you have to name each individual song file in Numerical Order i.e. 001, 002, 003 etc...
So for example a playlist for the Album 25 by Adele the files will be renamed on the USB flash drive only as "001_Hello" - "002 _Send My Love" - "003_I Miss You" etc etc etc.
Wow,! That sounds extremely laborious- even with only 6 or 7 GB worth of files which could amount to the upper hundreds, maybe even four digits worth!!
The flash drive I'm using is a 32gigger! I'm wondering now if there exist some software that could do this......?
Yes, number them separately per folder. It is rather laborious I agree but I only had about 5 folders with 5 albums on my USB stick when I used to play it in my car or my Hi-Fi in the other room.
I no longer use my USB. I've just gone back to my CDs and Streaming my music. I also Bluetooth my music from iTunes to my Stereo.
There is software to Batch Rename Files but the link below may work:
Thank you Friffic.....You have been very helpful....The stick has been showing some 'read errors' and I think that may be down to the poor way I have set up the folders- let alone 20-30 single MP3 files, which I think should also be in their own folder.
Anyway, I trust you had an enjoyable Christmas, and I wish you & kin a very happy, healthy New Year!
