Can we stop giving money to foreigners and use it to do some proper flood defences? We should also suspend EU payments for at least 1 year and add that to the pot.
We no longer have our own country and help others when people here who have worked all theirs lives have to go to a food bank and pensioners pay tax on their pension to give to people who come here and get benefits When you see 25 people in hijabs and with loads of kids within five minutes of getting off a bus its a joke to say we look after our own
Who's being anti-British? I'm just saying that foreign aid is, largely, worth it, and that it's completely misguided to think that cancelling it is in any way a sensible idea.
/// In fact we're rather lucky with our weather compared to some ///
Try telling this to one of those recently flooded out of their homes.
"You should think yourself lucky, you could live in Bangladesh"
Or perhaps we should give up the lifestyle that we have managed to achieve over many years, and share it with all those countries less fortunate than us?
I mean, why should we allow them to live in mud hut hovels, while most of us live in strong purpose built houses?
/// It's worth repeating that these problems are caused by rain : not by the fact that give money to India
etc ...///
I don't really think that needs repeating as everyone must know that the flooding has been caused by rain.
Money given to India is a completely different thing, but where they do come together is the fact that if that money which we give to India, is put towards improving the chances of British citizen not being flooded out of their homes, then that has got to be a good thing.
/// The Salvation Army suggest £19 for a family box for Christmas - that's Charity in the UK yes and we can give or not give to any of the thousands of charities for thousands of causes across the globe as we see fit or not according to our feelings and our pockets. ///
The difference being with the Government's overseas aid charity is the fact that we (who's money it is) have no choice who or what we give it to, and at the moment the UK's pocket is getting rather empty.
