It's worth paying a bit more for a printer that's cheap to run rather than buying a really cheap printer and then finding out that even third-party inks are expensive. It seems we have several votes for the HP Envy 5530, which counteracts my recent bad experience of HP printers.
Alternatively I have Chris's well researched recommendation of the Canon.
If I got the Canon in white from Argos it would be £10 cheaper than the HP Envy.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure.
