Password Unknowingly Changed.

Bare with me here, please.

After a very stressful three hours, plus a long, sleepless night, I have finally got Mr T's email password sorted out.

When he tried to log in yesterday, it would accept his log in details. It took an online chat and telephone conversation with the BT customer service chap to get it sort of sorted out.

It turned out that Mr T had received two emails in the last three days telling him that his password had been changed. He hadn't done anything, he rarely looks at his emails, so, can anyone tell me how this has occurred? How did someone else change his password?

I was getting spam emails from a couple of my customers and my daughter. They all used yahoo and worryingly the one from my daughter began with hi dad. The others used my first name. They had no knowledge of posting them.

I must be honest and say that, from all I have read on the Internet, I think Yahoo mail is one of the worst. However, I don't really like knocking any Internet Service which others find ok for their needs and by contract or otherwise are reliant upon the Service Provider concerned.

It is Not a secret that,in the past, Yahoo has been Hacked.

Yes he does 'use' BT Yahoo for his emails. We have changed the passwords on both his email account and his BT account. Hopefully, all will now be ok.

Most internet-based companies send an e-mail to the registered e-mail address when you change the password. So if you receive such notification when you haven't changed it then somebody else has, and you should address the matter asap (the informative e-mail usually tells you what to do if it isn't you who has changed the password).

The BT emails didn't tell you what to do, Canary. They just said that the password had been changed. Strange that, don't you think???
