Syncope

I wasnt sure whether to put this in here or history!

I've been doing some historical research and a g grandfather died suddenly in the street in 1889 aged 56. His death was attributed to syncope, which I understand to be a sudden loss of consciousness due to low blood pressure. Only a few weeks eariler he had been diagnosed with a heart condition. So what killed him? A heart attack? A stroke? He did complain of a pain in his head and side about 2 minutes before he dropped down dead (so much for the sea air he was ordered to take).

Also I notice that in that same male line going back 6 generations, no male lived beyond the age of 66 (although in fairness all of his children bucked the trend and lived to their 90s)! So I wonder if there was something hereditary.

Interested in any observations.

Syncope.....simply means,,FAINTING.

I don't know what he died of.

That may give us a clue in that he may have had a cerebral bleed..STROKE.

We know nothing about his "heart diagnosis" but that could have been the origin of a blood clot, travelling to his brain......STROKE.

So my money..........he died of a STROKE.

In that era, there was TB, syphilis and cardiovascular disease to knock you off, so hereditary would be way down the league.

Interestingly, the blokes all dropped down dead but the women (if they survived almost continually being pregnant) all lived to be ancient.

Remember when you lived in Hertfordshire or was it Suffolk and you were having one of your many suitors staying for the weekend.
The cooking and menus were discussed and you received (but not acted upon ;-)) my suggestions for clothing perfume and method of attack.

See girls, pregnancy is good for you. I'm unsure about the kitchen or being barefoot though. But try for pregnancy as often as possible. Maybe half a dozen times a day ?
